Benefits of Sunbeds
Using sunbeds in the hotter months helps maintain a consistent, even tan without overexposure to the sun. They offer a controlled environment, reducing the risk of burning while allowing you to top up your tan at a time that suits you. Sunbeds can also support your body's natural production of vitamin D, which plays a key role in boosting mood and wellbeing.

Identifying Skin Types
In tanning there is no ‘one-size-fits–all’. The amount of UV exposure needed to acquire a tan varies according to your skin type. Hence, the fairest skin type cannot tan without burning and should not use a sunbed while darker skin types are less likely to burn. That is why tanning professionals are trained to determine the appropriate amount of UV exposure for each client while minimising your risk of sunburn. The following table identifies skin types and the corresponding recommended tanning practice.
Skin type 1: Very fair skin, freckles, red hair, light grey / green / blue eyes
You have light features and are very sensitive to light. You always burn and cannot tan.
Skin type 2 : Fair skin, blonde or light brown hair, grey / green / blue eyes
Skin type 3 : Beige skin, brown hair, grey / light brown eyes
Skin type 4 : Light brown skin, dark brown hair, brown eyes
Skin type 5 : Brown skin, brownish / black eyes, dark brown hair
Skin type 6 : Black skin, black hair, black eyes
Skin type 2 -6 can benefit from sunbed exposure. Of course the individual exposure time on a sunbed will be different due to the skin type. The darker the skin the longer it can be exposed to sunlight without damage (burn).
